Bank accounts gain popularity among English inmates
Having a bank account helps ex-offenders to create an own personal identity. Almost half of the released British prisoners reoffend and go back to prison because it’s too hard for them to rebuild their lives. One of the major reasons is that most banks are not willing to create an account for (ex-)inmates. But change will come: more and more banks are helping the ex-captives to get back on track by making a bank account for them. (BBC News)
